Palace assures accountability for PhilHealth corruption

Malacañang assured the public that the government remains committed to holding PhilHealth officials accountable for alleged corruption and anomalies.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque stated that the drive to make erring PhilHealth officials answerable for their misdeeds will continue without let-up and that the administration has zero tolerance for corruption.

This assurance comes after a social media challenge, #wag_kalimutan_yung_binulsang_15billion_sa_philhealth_challenge, gained traction.

President Duterte had previously ordered charges to be filed against former PhilHealth president Ricardo Morales and other officials implicated in irregularities.

The Department of Justice's PhilHealth Task Force is currently finalizing complaints based on its report to the President for submission to the appropriate venue.

Smaller teams are also continuing investigations into PhilHealth's legal and IT sectors, with Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra suggesting that more individuals might be implicated.

President Duterte has named former NBI Director Dante Gierran as the new PhilHealth president tasked to cleanse the state health insurer.
