PAL boosts Cebu flights for summer travel surge

Philippine Airlines (PAL) is increasing its flight frequencies and seat capacity from Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) to accommodate the anticipated surge in summer travel.

Starting this April, PAL will operate 287 weekly roundtrip domestic flights from Cebu, a 10 percent increase in frequency, covering 18 destinations.

Flights to Caticlan will increase from 14 to 21 per week, Cebu-Siargao flights will ramp up to 26 per week from 18, Puerto Princesa flights will double to 14 per week, and Cebu-Coron flights will increase from 14 to 17 per week.

The airline will deploy larger Airbus A321 aircraft with 199 seats instead of 86-seater aircraft on certain routes, adding over 39,000 seats weekly to and from Cebu, a 17 percent increase in capacity.

PAL Express President Rabbi Vincent Ang stated that strengthening the Cebu hub is part of the airline's strategy to enhance connectivity, boost the economy, and drive tourism.

In May, PAL will also launch international flights from Cebu to Ho Chi Minh (Saigon).
