PAL agrees to cap one-way Siargao fare at P11,000

Philippine Airlines (PAL) has committed to capping its one-way fare to and from Siargao at P11,000, a significant reduction from the previous average of P17,500.

This agreement follows a request from lawmakers, including Surigao del Norte Representative Francisco "Lalo" Matugas, to address concerns about exorbitant flight rates.

DOTr Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez is scheduled to meet with PAL executives to finalize the implementation of the new fare scheme, which is expected within the next few days.

Lopez noted that the P11,000 fare cap is a substantial improvement, as typical one-way fares usually range from P7,500 to P8,000.

The initiative was initially pursued by former Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, who met with airline executives last week.
