PAGCOR rakes in P69 billion from online gambling in 7 months

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) generated P69 billion in licensing fees from legal online gambling platforms from January to July this year.

Of this amount, P41 billion came from electronic games (E-Games) and P28 billion from other online game offerings.

PAGCOR Chairman Alejandro H. Tengco stated that online gaming is a significant revenue source for nation-building, contributing P27.47 billion for CSR programs, including P14.72 billion for the Universal Health Care Law.

These funds will also support the construction of school buildings, socio-civic centers, wellness centers, and E-Learning hubs.

Tengco also highlighted the risks posed by illegal online gambling sites, which deprive the government of revenue and endanger Filipino players.

He noted that most illegal platforms operate abroad, making enforcement difficult and a total ban impractical.
