PAGCOR execs tender courtesy resignations
Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco, along with its entire board of directors, has submitted their courtesy resignations to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The resignation letters were submitted last week, even before the President ordered all governing boards of Government-owned or Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) to submit their courtesy resignations as the Cabinet undergoes a revamp.
PAGCOR's board is comprised of president and COO Wilma Eisma and Directors Jose Maria Ortega, Francis Democrito Concordia, and Gilbert Cesar Remulla.
Tengco stated that they serve at the pleasure of the President and will accept his decision.
PAGCOR faced criticisms last year related to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), which have been associated with scamming, phishing, and human trafficking cases.
President Marcos Jr. had ordered a ban on POGOs in 2024, but Senator Risa Hontiveros questioned PAGCOR's capability to genuinely enforce the ban, suggesting that "reinvented POGOs" could still evade detection.
