PAGCOR allows POGOs to operate during quarantine with restrictions

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) initially announced the suspension of all gaming operations in Metro Manila, including Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), in support of COVID-19 community quarantine measures.

However, PAGCOR later clarified that POGO workers are allowed to report to their sites despite the enhanced community quarantine, provided that a work-from-home setup is implemented.

If a work-from-home setup is not fully possible, 25% of the workforce per shift may be allowed on-site, with employees shuttled to and from their residences without crossing inter-city borders.

PAGCOR urgently recommended that POGO companies provide living accommodations for their skeletal workforce on-site to minimize movement.

PAGCOR chairman Andrea Domingo stated that POGOs function like business process outsourcing (BPO) companies, providing a platform for offshore bets without personal interaction with bettors.
