Tropical cyclone Julian likely to form in PAR over the weekend

A tropical cyclone, which will be named Julian, is likely to develop within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) over the weekend.

Julian will be the 10th tropical cyclone to enter PAR this year and the sixth for the month of September.

The cyclone is expected to affect Northern Luzon.

Currently, cloud clusters inside PAR have a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 to 48 hours.

A separate low-pressure area spotted outside PAR has a low probability of entering the country's jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, and isolated rain showers over the Visayas and Mindanao.

Localized thunderstorms are also expected to bring isolated rain showers to the rest of Luzon.

PAGASA forecasts light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas across the archipelago.

The NDRRMC reported that damage to agriculture from previous weather disturbances has reached PHP600.8 million in three regions.
