P50M worth of smuggled cigarettes seized in Zamboanga, Misamis Oriental

Over P50 million worth of alleged smuggled cigarettes were seized in three separate operations in Zamboanga City and Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental.

On September 12, authorities discovered an abandoned boat near Sacol and Manalipa Islands containing 445 boxes of Fort cigarettes valued at P25,498,500.

The following day, September 11, another 282 boxes of smuggled cigarettes worth P16.16 million were found in a truck in Zamboanga City, leading to the arrest of a police officer and a driver.

Earlier, on September 10, hundreds of boxes of smuggled cigarettes with an estimated value of P9.2 million were confiscated in Barangay Mauswagon, Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental.

All seized cigarettes have been turned over to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition.
