P344.7M SAP funds reallocated for second cash subsidy wave

Over P344.7 million in returned and unspent Social Amelioration Program (SAP) funds will be reallocated for the second wave of cash subsidies.

As of June 10, more than P20.3 million was returned by 3,723 beneficiaries primarily due to duplicate assistance or ineligibility.

Region XI (Davao) had the highest number of beneficiaries returning aid with 2,047 individuals, followed by Region III (Central Luzon) with 795.

Secretary Rolando Bautista stated that the number of beneficiaries returning aid is expected to increase as validation and de-duplication processes continue.

Additionally, 179 local government units (LGUs) refunded over P324.4 million in SAP subsidies.

These unspent and returned funds will be used for the second tranche to avoid requesting additional budget from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and Department of Finance (DOF).

Around P96 billion has been released for the second wave of cash subsidies.
