Over 6,500 cops deployed for Sinulog Festival security

Over 6,500 police officers and emergency response personnel are deployed to ensure security for Cebu's Sinulog Festival.

Acting PNP Chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has ordered police units in Cebu and neighboring regions to strategically deploy personnel and placed them on heightened alert.

Nartatez stated that real-time security adjustments will be made by ground commanders to ensure a peaceful celebration for the attendees.

Local police are instructed to collaborate closely with local government units and other relevant agencies to maintain peace and order throughout the festival activities.

The Cebu City government has also confirmed that security and safety preparations are complete for both the cultural and religious aspects of the Sinulog Festival and the Feast of Señor Santo Niño.

The festival and feast day are scheduled for January 18, with the feast day including a grand parade that begins with a Holy Mass.

The PNP has not monitored any specific threat related to the festivities.
