PNP internal cleansing program nets 6.2K erring cops under PBBM
Over 6,200 Philippine National Police (PNP) officers have been penalized under an intensified internal cleansing program by the administration of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. since July 2022.
According to PNP Internal Affairs Service (IAS) Inspector General Atty. Brigido Dulay, 572 erring officers were dismissed from the service, with forfeited benefits and perpetual disqualification from holding government posts.
Additionally, 260 officers faced demotion and 1,418 were suspended.
The offenses range from conduct unbecoming of a law enforcer to grave misconduct.
The highest-ranking officer penalized under this program is a Colonel.
Dulay urged all police personnel to adhere strictly to the rule of law and police operational procedures to avoid administrative charges and penalties.
