Over 455K Pfizer vaccine doses for adults arrive in PH

A total of 455,130 doses of government-procured Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for adults arrived in the Philippines on Thursday night.

This shipment increases the country's total vaccine inventory to over 223 million doses since February last year.

National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 consultant Ma. Paz Corrales reported that over 2.6 million doses were administered during the third 'Bayanihan, Bakunahan' national vaccination drive, which began on February 10 and was extended to February 18.

Corrales also mentioned that 263,000 doses of the reformulated Pfizer vaccine have been administered to minors aged 5 to 11.

Approximately 65 percent of the target younger population (12 to 17 years old) are now fully vaccinated.

Corrales urged parents to have their children inoculated against COVID-19 in preparation for face-to-face classes and economic reopening.

The national government procured the latest Pfizer vaccine doses through the World Bank, with the US government facilitating the delivery.
