Ombudsman spox: Most Martires appointees resign

Almost all of the last-minute hires and promoted officials during the final three months of former Ombudsman Samuel Martires' term have submitted courtesy resignations, according to Ombudsman spokesperson Mico Clavano.

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla had ordered 204 individuals, including 99 holding Salary Grade 25 and above, to tender these resignations as a demonstration of good faith and loyalty.

Clavano expressed happiness with the high compliance rate, viewing it as a sign of trust in the new Ombudsman and his administration.

The Office of the Ombudsman will now evaluate these courtesy resignations and the hiring and promotion processes undertaken by each employee.

This evaluation will form the basis for decisions aimed at ensuring the office has adequate personnel to fulfill its mandate of prosecuting corrupt public officials.
