Ombudsman dismisses cases vs Remulla over Duterte transfer

The Office of the Ombudsman has dismissed administrative and criminal cases against Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla and others concerning the transfer of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Senator Imee Marcos had filed the complaints, alleging graft and arbitrary detention, among other charges.

Remulla confirmed the dismissal, which removes a significant hurdle to his application for the Ombudsman position.

Marcos confirmed she filed a motion for reconsideration on September 12, stating that Remulla still has a pending case before the Office of the Ombudsman.

The inquiry by Marcos' committee previously uncovered acts by high-ranking government officials which very likely constitute criminal and administrative offenses.
