PH gov't welcomes OIC resolution supporting BARMM

The Philippine government welcomed a resolution from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) urging increased support for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The OIC's Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) resolution, which addresses the "Question of Muslims in the Southern Philippines," is considered timely due to BARMM's peace, security, and development challenges, and the upcoming October 13, 2025, parliamentary elections.

This resolution highlights the OIC's enduring commitment to the Bangsamoro peace process, aiming to foster peace through dialogue and understanding.

The OIC resolution also commended President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for his commitment to unity, inclusivity, socioeconomic development, and interventions promoting peace and development in BARMM.

Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (Opapru) Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. expressed gratitude to OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha for the organization's dedication.

The Philippines anticipates continued collaboration with the OIC to achieve lasting peace for the Bangsamoro people.
