OFWs surprised by Chinese names on negative COVID-19 test list

Filipino overseas workers repatriated due to the pandemic were surprised to discover Chinese names on a list of those who tested negative for COVID-19.

Thousands of repatriated OFWs anxiously wait for negative test results, which are necessary for them to leave quarantine.

An OFW who was swab-tested on May 15 received her negative result on May 27, while others who were swabbed in the first week of May are still waiting.

Some OFWs believe it is unfair that other citizens are prioritized over Filipinos for test results.

A group of over 100 OFWs had been stranded in a hotel since April 1, waiting for their COVID-19 test results.

These OFWs were swabbed on May 15 but were still awaiting clearance to return home.

A PCG official identified the Philippine Red Cross as the source of the test results.

The Philippine Red Cross clarified that they only processed the samples submitted by the PCG.
