OCTA poll: 57% of Filipinos back rejoining ICC

A recent OCTA Research survey indicates that 57% of adult Filipinos support the country rejoining the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The survey, conducted from April 20 to 24 with 1,200 respondents, found that 37% are opposed and 6% are undecided.

Support for rejoining the ICC is high in Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, and the Visayas, with over 60% in favor, while Mindanao shows the highest opposition.

85% of respondents are aware of the ICC, while 13% are not.

Malacañang stated that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is listening to public sentiment on rejoining the ICC.

ICC assistant to counsel Kristina Conti believes the public's support for rejoining the ICC signifies a hunger for justice.

The Philippines withdrew from the Rome Statute in March 2018 under former president Rodrigo Duterte.
