OCTA: NCR COVID-19 cases may have peaked

The independent monitoring group OCTA Research stated that COVID-19 cases in the National Capital Region (NCR) may have already peaked, with the reproduction number falling to 0.99.

OCTA Research observed a 20% decrease in the average number of new COVID-19 cases in the NCR compared to the previous week, dropping to 4,674.

The group cautioned that while indications suggest a peak, the decrease in cases needs to be sustained to confirm this trend definitively.

OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David stated that the Philippines could possibly be in the last stages of its battle against the Delta coronavirus variant, especially in Metro Manila.

Based on projections, the hospital situation in the NCR is likely to improve by early to middle of October.

David anticipates that the daily average in Metro Manila may decrease to 4,000 by the end of October, and further to 2,000 to 3,000 by November.
