OCD to procure 500,000 rapid antigen test kits

The national government has authorized the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) to procure an initial 500,000 rapid antigen test kits to bolster testing efforts in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

This procurement is allowed under Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) Resolution No. 108, which permits the OCD to utilize quick response funds for this purpose.

The goal is to ensure the swift detection of COVID-19 cases and the tracing of close contacts.

The procured test kits must have undergone validation by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) and/or the emergency use listing (EUL) of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The IATF has identified three antigen brands that meet government standards: Standard Q Covid-19 Ag Test by SD Biosensor Inc., Panbio Covid-19 Ag Rapid Test Device by Abbot, and Wondfo 2019-nCoV Antigen Test by Guangzhou Wondfo Biotech Co. Ltd.
