NU retires Bella Belen's #4 jersey

National University retired Bella Belen's #4 jersey, making her the first NU player to receive this honor.

The jersey retirement ceremony took place at SM Mall of Asia's Asia Music Hall in Pasay during NU's Season 88 pep rally.

Belen, who led the Lady Bulldogs to their second consecutive women's volleyball title last May, ended her collegiate career with eight championships, including five MVP awards.

She expressed overwhelming joy and gratitude, noting that she cried before the event as she was honored by the university.

Belen initially received the news about the jersey retirement a few weeks prior, but later doubted whether it would happen due to the lack of updates.

She joined Manila Santos-Ng of La Salle and Rachel Anne Daquis of FEU as the only volleyball players to have their numbers retired in their respective schools.

No NU player can ever wear the No. 4 jersey in women's volleyball again.

Belen's NU career spanned 11 years, including her high school run where she led the NU Nazareth School girls volleyball team to six straight UAAP finals from Season 77 to 82.
