NU Bulldogs upset UP Fighting Maroons to keep Final Four hopes alive

The NU Bulldogs secured a surprising 67-47 victory over the UP Fighting Maroons, improving their record to 3-8 and keeping their UAAP Season 87 Final Four hopes alive.

NU raced to a 24-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and maintained control throughout the game, clinching their first win over UP since Season 85.

Patrick Yu spearheaded the Bulldogs' upset with a game-high 17 points, including five 3-pointers on 5-of-7 shooting.

Jake Figueroa contributed 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Bulldogs.

NU head coach Jeff Napa admired how his team played more relaxed and not too stiff, stating, 'This is what I felt we're going to be in the second round. This is the team I expect from us.'

The win snapped a three-game slump for NU and marked UP's worst shooting performance of the season at 17-of-66 from the field.

Sean Torculas was the only UP player to reach double digits with 13 points.
