NU Bulldogs beat UST Golden Spikers in Final 4 preview

The NU Bulldogs secured a four-set victory against the UST Golden Spikers with set scores of 25-22, 20-25, 25-22, 25-22, in a preview of their UAAP Season 87 Final 4 matchup.

This win marked NU's sixth straight victory, concluding the preliminaries in second place with a 12-2 record, and they will enter the semifinals with a twice-to-beat advantage over UST.

Despite the absence of key player Michaelo Buddin due to an ankle sprain, NU managed to defeat UST for the fourth consecutive time.

NU's coach Dante Alinsunurin emphasized the importance of maintaining a winning mindset even though the game had no bearing on the standings, stating, "Kahapon, nalaman namin na no bearing na yung game, pero sinabi ko sa mga players ko na kahit anong mangyari ngayon, dapat i-mindset natin na manalo pa rin kasi yung magiging panalo natin, madadala natin sa Final Four."

The Bulldogs demonstrated their ability to adjust and overcome UST's strategies, securing the win with crucial plays in the final set.

Jade Disquitado powered the Bulldogs with 23 points, while Leo Ordiles had 15 and Rwemz Taguibolos chipped in 10.

For UST, Josh Ybanez carried the load with 20 markers, while JJ Macam and Jay Rack de la Noche had 11 apiece.
