NU Bulldogs edge UP Fighting Maroons to tie for UAAP badminton lead

National University (NU) Bulldogs secured a 3-2 victory over University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons to tie for the lead in the UAAP men's badminton tournament.

MJ Perez clinched the win for NU by defeating UP's Charles Alcarpio in the third singles match with a score of 21-17, 21-13.

NU now shares the top spot with defending champions Ateneo De Manila University, who achieved a 5-0 win against De La Salle University.

The match saw NU and UP split the first two singles matches, with NU's Lanz Zafra winning and UP's Jelo Albo taking the other.

UP took a 2-1 lead after Enzo Rivera and Mark Anthony Bernal defeated NU's national players Solomon Padiz Jr. and James Villarante in a doubles match.

NU coach Jaime Llanes expressed satisfaction with his team's performance despite the challenges of a new venue, emphasizing the need for adjustment and continued effort.
