NU Bulldogs men's badminton team extend UAAP winning streak to 60 games

The National University (NU) Bulldogs men's badminton team extended their record-breaking UAAP winning streak to 60 games by defeating the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons 3-2.

The decisive match came down to rookie MJ Perez of NU, who secured the victory by defeating UP's Johann Abinales in a thrilling singles match with a 21-9, 26-24 score in the second game.

NU's head coach Jaime Llanes expressed happiness with the rookie's performance and the team's hard-fought win.

Earlier in the match, NU's Mark Velasco defeated UP's Jelo Albo, last season's Rookie of the Year, in a controversial deciding set.

Kervin Llanes then stunned reigning MVP Solomon Padiz Jr. to level the tie.

Julius Villabrille and James Villarante secured the first doubles match to give NU the lead.

This victory handed the Fighting Maroons their first loss of the season and guaranteed NU's spot in the Final Four.
