NU Bulldogs upset defending champs DLSU Green Archers

The National University (NU) Bulldogs concluded their UAAP Season 87 campaign with an upset victory over the defending champion De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers, winning 63-54.

This win snapped DLSU's nine-game winning streak and dropped them to a 12-2 record, securing the number one seed.

PJ Palacielo led NU with a team-high 16 points and eight rebounds, while Jake Figueroa contributed 14 points, including eight in the crucial fourth quarter.

The NU Bulldogs, coached by Jeff Napa, ended their season with a 5-9 record, becoming the only team to have beaten both La Salle and UP this season.

Despite the game being non-bearing for NU, Coach Jeff Napa expressed pride in his players' performance and determination, stating 'So happy for the players talaga. Binigay nila 'yung best nila up to the last game.'

DLSU attempted a comeback late in the game, narrowing the deficit to 53-50, but NU responded with a scoring run to secure the win.

Mike Phillips had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds for DLSU, but received little support from his teammates in the endgame.
