NU, Adamson, FEU tipped as favorites in SSL Preseason Cup

National University (NU), Adamson University, and Far Eastern University (FEU) are considered favorites in the 2025 Shakey's Super League (SSL) Preseason Unity Cup.

NU remains a strong contender despite losing key players and a coaching change, with returning players like Vange Alinsug and Lams Lamina, plus recruit Sam Cantada.

FEU swept Jose Rizal University (JRU) with set scores of 25-15, 25-9, and 25-23, led by Ann Asis and Gerzel Petallo who each scored eight points.

San Beda University secured a hard-fought five-set victory against Emilio Aguinaldo College in Pool A, with Angel Habacon scoring 16 points.

Arellano University also opened Pool B with a win, defeating JRU in a five-set match with scores of 25-19, 25-18, 23-25, 16-25, and 15-10, led by rookie Cassey Florida with 19 points.

University of the Philippines (UP) stunned University of Santo Tomas in a five-set match with scores of 25-22, 18-25, 25-19, 18-25, 15-13, rallying from a six-point deficit in the final set.

Casiey Dongallo led UP with 20 points, including 18 kills, one ace, and a kill block, while veteran Nina Ytang contributed 15 points.
