NTC activates amateur radio groups for Typhoon Uwan emergency comms

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has activated Amateur and Civic Radio Groups in its regional offices to support government emergency communications and public assistance operations in anticipation of Typhoon Uwan.

The NTC stressed the vital role of radio communications in disaster preparedness and response, commending the continuous volunteerism of these groups during national emergencies.

Regional NTC offices have coordinated with Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (LDRRMOs) to ensure clear communication lines and effective response coordination.

Monitoring of designated emergency frequencies across UHF, VHF, and HF bands is in place to support real-time information exchange.

Regional teams have also ensured that communication equipment and facilities are fully operational, with adequate power supplies and backup systems to maintain continuous service during power interruptions.
