NorthPort ends 5-year drought vs Ginebra in PBA

NorthPort ended a five-year winless streak against Barangay Ginebra with a 119-116 victory in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup.

This win marks NorthPort's seventh win in eight games, solidifying their top position in the standings with a 7-1 record, while Ginebra drops to 5-3.

Import Kadeem Jack scored 32 points and 16 rebounds, and Joshua Munzon added 27 points, with both players performing at an MVP level.

Arvin Tolentino, alongside Jack and Munzon, led the Batang Pier, who held an 18-point fourth-quarter lead.

NorthPort's previous win against Ginebra was on December 14, 2019, with Ginebra winning the subsequent 14 matchups.

This victory all but assured NorthPort a spot in the quarterfinals, something they have not achieved in the last two conferences.

NorthPort coach Bonnie Tan described the game as a 'statement game' to prove their competitiveness against top teams.

Joshua Munzon stated that the team prepared for this victory during the holiday break, and their hard work paid off.

Barangay Ginebra head coach Tim Cone acknowledged NorthPort's strong performance, stating they had problems stopping them and that Munzon, Arvin Tolentino, and the import were playing exceptionally well.
