North Cotabato governor orders preemptive COVID-19 lockdown

North Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco ordered a preemptive lockdown of the province starting March 18 until April 14, 2020, closing all entry and exit points.

The lockdown aims to protect residents from COVID-19 and is in accordance with Presidential Proclamation Number 922.

Non-residents are prohibited from entering, except those involved in essential services like delivery of goods and medical supplies, or those working within the province, who must adhere to strict health protocols.

All tourist spots are closed to visitors, and most business establishments must cease operations, with exemptions for essential services such as public markets, groceries, hospitals, banks, and utility providers.

Public gatherings, including religious, sports, and cultural events, are strictly prohibited.

As of March 17, North Cotabato had over 50 persons under monitoring (PUMs), with three exhibiting mild flu-like symptoms.

Healthcare personnel are also tracing individuals with recent travel history, including a returning OFW and a Chinese national with his Filipina girlfriend.
