NLEX Marilao bridge repairs expected by March 31 after truck collision

Heavy traffic is anticipated on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) due to repairs on the Marilao Interchange Bridge, damaged by an over-height truck on March 19.

The incident caused significant congestion, with the container truck exceeding the bridge's clearance and damaging two girders.

NLEX Corporation expects to complete the bridge repairs by March 31, with a fabricated metal beam to replace the damaged section.

The shoring of vertical steel supports beneath the interchange was completed on March 21, allowing motorists to use three lanes in the affected area.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian urged concerned agencies to immediately repair the damaged bridge, stating there was no reason for the repairs to take two to three weeks, especially with Holy Week approaching.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon reiterated the call for NLEX to waive toll fees on the northbound stretch between Balintawak and Marilao due to traffic delays.

The truck driver faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property.
