Nicolas Torre III appointed new MMDA general manager

Nicolas Torre III has been appointed as the new general manager of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Malacañang confirmed his new position on Friday, December 19.

Torre, a former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, replaces retired police colonel Procopio Lipana.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. named Torre PNP chief in May, but he was removed on August 25.

President Marcos Jr. explained that Torre was removed as PNP chief after he did not agree with directives from the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM).

The MMDA expressed its full support for Torre's appointment, citing his experience in public service and law enforcement.

MMDA Chairman Romando Artes stated that Torre's addition to the agency would be a "big help."
