Nickel Asia, DMCI Mining venture to boost PH mineral value chain

The joint venture between Nickel Asia Corporation and DMCI Mining Corporation to develop a nickel processing plant in the Philippines is seen as a significant step in enhancing the country's mineral value chain.

Senate President Francis Escudero described the initiative as a "monumental stride" that will boost the local mineral processing industry, create jobs, and strengthen the Philippines' global standing in the mining sector.

The announcement coincides with the Senate's recent approval of a bill that prohibits the export of locally extracted raw minerals five years after its enactment, aiming to increase the value added to these resources.
