Nic Cabanero concludes UAAP career, eyes pro leagues

University of Santo Tomas (UST) star player Nic Cabanero is officially ready to transition to the professional basketball scene after concluding his collegiate career.

Cabanero expressed his focus was solely on the UAAP season, but acknowledged contact from MPBL teams interested in his services.

He delivered a strong performance in his final UAAP game, scoring 24 points in UST's close Final Four loss to UP.

Cabanero was also recognized as the league's best scorer, averaging 16.8 points per game.

His impressive collegiate performance makes him a potential prospect for overseas leagues like the KBL and Japan B. League, following the path of recent UAAP stars.

Alternatively, a local stint in the MPBL is also a possibility before he potentially enters the PBA Draft, where he is expected to be a high pick.
