NHMFC, SHFC grant one-month moratorium to typhoon, quake victims

The National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC) and the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) have granted a one-month moratorium on housing loan payments for individuals affected by recent typhoons Nando, Opong, and an earthquake in Cebu.

The automatic moratorium, effective from October 3 to November 2, waives penalties and surcharges on affected loan accounts.

This initiative covers areas under state of calamity in Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and Central Visayas.

An estimated 822 housing loan borrowers are expected to benefit from this payment reprieve.

NHMFC officer-in-charge Shara Jane Falceso stated that the moratorium applies to accounts affected by typhoons Nando and Opong, as well as those in areas impacted by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake in Central Visayas.
