NFA 6 ready to launch P20/kilo rice program

The National Food Authority (NFA) 6 in Western Visayas is ready to implement the P20 per kilogram rice program, "Benteng Bigas Meron Na!" (BBM Na!), once coordination with local government units (LGUs) is finalized.

NFA-6 Manager Jasmin Lintag confirmed that the region has a substantial rice inventory of 116,000 bags and 1.5 million bags of palay for milling, with 85,000 bags of rice readily available in Iloilo alone.

The agency assures that only newly milled, good quality rice will be distributed, and they are awaiting instructions from Food Terminal, Inc. to proceed with issuing rice to LGUs.

LGUs are reportedly still processing their readiness following the recent elections, which is causing a slight delay in the program's rollout.

Filipino residents are advised to connect with their respective LGUs and look for Kadiwa ng Pangulo outlets to avail of the P20 per kilogram rice.

In Iloilo, the program will be incorporated into the provincial initiative 'Sipag at TiyaGa' (Siguradong Pagkain, Tiyak na Kalusugan), which focuses on food and health security.
