Netflix begins Pride and Prejudice adaptation with star-studded cast

Netflix has commenced production in the UK for a six-part adaptation of Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice', penned by Dolly Alderton and directed by Euros Lyn.

The series has confirmed Golden Globe winner Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet and BAFTA winner Jack Lowden as Mr. Darcy.

Academy Award winner Olivia Colman is set to play Mrs. Bennet, Rufus Sewell as Mr. Bennet, Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet, and Rhea Norwood as Lydia Bennet.

Jamie Demetriou will portray Mr. Collins, Daryl McCormack as Mr. Bingley, and Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham.

The cast also includes Hopey Parish as Mary Bennet, Hollie Avery as Kitty Bennet, Siena Kelly as Caroline Bingley, and Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourgh.

Additional cast members are Anjana Vasan as Mrs. Gardiner, Sebastian Armesto as Mr. Gardiner, Rosie Cavaliero as Lady Lucas, Saffron Coomber as Mrs. Hurst, James Dryden as Mr. Hurst, Justin Edwards as Sir William Lucas, James Northcote as Colonel Forster, Eloise Webb as Harriet Forster, and Isabella Sermon as Georgiana Darcy.

Netflix stated that Alderton and Lyn's take will hew closely to the original text, aiming to reunite existing fans with the timeless 1813 novel while introducing it to a new generation.
