Negros Occidental imposes 14-day quarantine on Manila arrivals

All passengers arriving in Negros Occidental from Metro Manila will undergo a mandatory 14-day home quarantine, as per Executive Order No. 20-13 issued by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.

This measure designates all travelers from Manila as persons under monitoring (PUMs) regardless of symptoms, effective March 14.

This is part of the province's unified protocols for border and intra-province control against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic.

The province remains COVID-19 free as of March 12, with 133 PUMs, 69 of whom completed quarantine and tested negative.

Travelers from Negros Oriental are permitted entry as there is no local transmission.

Local festivals and events are suspended at the discretion of local chief executives, and a COVID-19 hotline will be established by the Provincial Health Office.

The Provincial Health Office will also identify quarantine areas for COVID-19 patients.

Governor Lacson urged the public not to panic or hoard essential supplies like alcohol and soaps, highlighting the risk posed by those who are deprived of these items.
