NCR reaches 81.4% full vaccination rate

Interior Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya reported that approximately 81.4% of the eligible population in the National Capital Region (NCR) has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with around 7.9 million Filipinos vaccinated.

He also stated that 93% of the eligible population in NCR, totaling 9.1 million Filipinos, have received at least one dose.

Nationwide, 32.25% of the eligible population, or 24.8 million individuals, are fully vaccinated, while 37.5% (28.9 million) have received at least one dose.

The government plans to accelerate vaccination efforts in provinces outside Metro Manila, aiming to inoculate 50% to 70% of their target populations by Christmas.

A meeting is scheduled for Friday between regional directors, mayors, and governors to discuss strategies for boosting vaccination rates in the provinces.

Vaccination drives will be expanded in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Central Visayas, and Davao, with subsequent expansion to other regions.

To achieve population protection by year-end, the country needs to ramp up daily vaccinations to between 1 million and 1.5 million.
