NCAA to receive special award at PSA Awards Night

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) will receive a special award at the San Miguel Corporation-Philippine Sportswriters Association (SMC-PSA) Awards Night on January 27 for celebrating its 100th season.

The event at The Manila Hotel will also honor 18 other personalities and entities for their significant contributions and achievements in sports.

Gymnastics star Carlos Yulo has been named the Athlete of the Year for his outstanding performances in 2024, including winning two gold medals in the Paris Olympics.

Other awardees include the dragon boat national team, which topped the International Canoe Federation Dragon Boat World Championship, and the Philippine Volcanoes, who ruled the men's and women's divisions in the Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Trophy.

Weightlifter Angeline Colonia, jiu-jitsu athlete Isabella Joseline Butler, powerlifter Regie Ramirez, and the Creamline team are also among the recognized individuals and groups.

Additional honorees include Johann Chua and Albert James Manas (billiards), Carl Eldrew Yulo (gymnastics), Ruelle Canino (chess), Kheith Rhynne Cruz (table tennis), Marc Dylan Custodio (bowling), Mark John Lexer Galedo (cycling), Lovely Inan (weightlifting), the Philippine baseball team, Centennial 7 (sailing), Jessa Mae Tabuan (powerlifting), and Ramon Suzara (volleyball).

The awards night is supported by various organizations including the Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, MILO, and PLDT/Smart, among others.
