NBI seizes P47.7M worth of counterfeit items in Pasay

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has seized counterfeit products valued at P47.7 million in Pasay City following a complaint from an original apparel brand.

The operation, conducted on May 14, involved the execution of three search warrants against individuals involved in the alleged illicit operations.

A total of 15,814 counterfeit items bearing a specific apparel brand were confiscated.

Authorities also secured business documents, receipts, parcel tags, and machinery used in the production and distribution of these fake goods.

The NBI's operation targeted violations of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, specifically regarding trademark infringement.

Individuals found guilty of trademark infringement under the Intellectual Property Code could face penalties of up to P1.5 million or imprisonment for up to nine years.
