NBI rescues 5 minors from online sexual exploitation in Ormoc

Five minors were rescued from online sexual exploitation during simultaneous operations in Ormoc City by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

The operations were conducted by the NBI's Human Trafficking Division and the Eastern Visayas Regional Office.

The first case involved a 15-year-old girl whose mother was allegedly distributing Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Materials via Facebook Messenger with a foreign national from Alabama.

The victim was rescued on August 27 and placed under the care of the Ormoc City Social Welfare and Development Office.

In a second operation on September 2, a mother was arrested for allegedly uploading explicit videos of her children to YouTube and distributing them via Messenger, leading to the rescue of four girls aged 3, 4, 7, and 8.

The suspect faces multiple charges, including violations of the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children Act and the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
