NBI rescues 10 from human trafficking in Pangasinan

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) rescued 10 individuals, including nine minors, from a human trafficking operation in Sual, Pangasinan.

The rescue operation on May 1 also led to the arrest of five individuals, including two Chinese nationals and three Filipinos.

Victims reported being recruited from Northern Samar and subjected to forced labor, debt bondage, and threats of violence, including the use of firearms.

The operation was prompted by intelligence regarding Chinese nationals allegedly employing underage workers and harboring undocumented foreign nationals.

The arrested Chinese nationals were directly managing the operations and employing minors in offshore fish cage businesses.
