NBI issues new subpoena vs. Sara Duterte
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has issued a new subpoena to Vice President Sara Duterte, requiring her to appear on December 11 to explain an alleged kill order against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
This investigation is for alleged grave threats in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 and possible violation of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020.
Vice President Duterte previously failed to appear for a hearing on November 29, citing a late notification about the cancellation of a House committee hearing on the same day.
Her camp requested a reschedule and also asked for a copy of the complaint and the specific questions the NBI intends to ask her.
However, NBI Director Jaime Santiago stated they will not provide a list of questions.
Santiago also warned that if Duterte fails to appear again, the NBI will submit its evidence to Department of Justice prosecutors.
