NBI arrests store owner for selling P3M worth of expired goods in Calabarzon

A store owner in Taytay, Rizal was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for allegedly selling expired food products like biscuits and chips at low prices in provinces in Calabarzon.

Authorities confiscated approximately P3 million worth of expired goods from the suspect's warehouse.

The NBI utilized two trucks to transport the seized food items, which were collected under a search warrant.

The operation stemmed from a complaint by a company whose products, previously removed from grocery shelves due to expiration, were reportedly being resold.

NBI Laguna District Office executive officer Renato Marcuap explained that the expiration dates on these products were being altered by erasing or covering the original date and affixing a new one using stickers or stamps.
