NBI arrests fake agent posing as employer

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested a man posing as an NBI agent for allegedly scamming individuals seeking employment or to pass civil service exams.

The suspect was apprehended by the NBI Technical Investigation Division in a Manila mall.

He reportedly promised victims jobs at the NBI and the Civil Service Commission, using a fake NBI ID and badge, and forged documents.

NBI director Jaime Santiago personally confronted the suspect for using his signature on the counterfeit identification card.

One couple allegedly lost around P200,000 to the suspect, who promised them a CSC exam pass and an NBI job with a P35,000 monthly salary.

The arrested individual was also found to have connections to an orphanage in Bulacan that was previously raided for allegedly facilitating illegal adoptions by foreigners.

Authorities recovered a fake NBI badge and ID, along with fraudulent documents, including purported scholarship grants for aspiring flight attendants.
