Navotas sells P33/kg NFA rice to ease residents' burden

Navotas City has begun selling rice at P33 per kilogram sourced from the National Food Authority (NFA) to help ease the financial burden on residents.

The NFA rice is available at the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. Vocational Training Center in Barangay NBBS Dagat-dagatan, operating from Monday to Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Mayor John Rey Tiangco announced that there is no limit to the amount of rice residents can purchase, with a sack priced at P1,650.

The local government plans to establish additional selling sites in other barangays to ensure wider accessibility for all Navotas residents.

Navotas City initially procured 1,000 sacks of rice for this initiative.

The NFA has encouraged other local government units to expedite their rice procurement to allow the agency to secure more supplies from various provinces.

This P33 rice program was initiated following the declaration of a food security emergency on rice by the Department of Agriculture due to rising local rice prices.
