Navotas murder suspects accuse cops of torture

Two murder suspects accused Navotas police officers of torture to force confessions, with one suspect, "Dave," detailing being hit and losing consciousness on November 9.

Lawyer Cid Andeza stated the suspects were allegedly abused at the Navotas City Police Station's Intelligence Section, citing beatings, tied limbs, and plastic-wrapped heads.

Navotas police chief P/Col. Renante Pinuela denied the allegations, attributing the suspect's wounds to potential altercations within a crowded jail.

The suspects are allegedly involved in a November 3 shooting incident that resulted in two deaths.

Pinuela asserted that police have strong evidence, including CCTV footage, and suggested the torture claims might be an attempt to invalidate the case and the identified masterminds.

"Dave" provided an extrajudicial confession on November 9, naming two barangay officials who allegedly paid P30,000 for the killings.
