Napolcom warns groups against influencing sabungero abduction probe

The National Police Commission (Napolcom) warned groups against influencing its investigation into the alleged involvement of police officers in the abduction of at least 34 cockfighting aficionados (sabungeros).

Napolcom Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Rafael Calinisan identified two groups attempting to influence the investigation as a "sabong boss" and a "local government executive."

Calinisan stated that the decision on the cases will be based solely on the evidence gathered during the investigation and due process, promising fairness and impartiality.

He stressed that external pressures will not affect the investigation and encouraged the public to provide any relevant information to aid in achieving justice.

Whistleblower Julie "Dondon" Patidongan formally lodged a complaint with Napolcom against 12 active-duty police officers and six previously dismissed officers in connection with the case.
