Napolcom investigates Bacolod cop linked to businesswoman's kidnap-slay

The National Police Commission (Napolcom) is launching an investigation into a Bacolod police officer implicated in the kidnap-slay of businesswoman Kristine Joy Dignadice.

Dignadice, a 42-year-old resident of Victorias City, was reported missing, and her blood-stained car was found abandoned in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.

The unnamed officer surrendered to Negros Island Region police chief Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay and confessed his involvement in the crime.

Following the suspect's information, Dignadice's decomposing body was recovered at Hacienda Weber in Bago City.

Napolcom Commissioner Rafael Calinisan ordered the agency's inspection, monitoring and investigation service to look into the case, assuring that due process will be observed and the officer held accountable through administrative and criminal proceedings.

The motive behind the killing has not yet been determined by the authorities.
