NAPOLCOM clears 25-year backlog of 4,000 cases

The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has officially declared a zero case backlog, resolving the last six remaining cases in its final Summary Dismissal and En Banc Session for Calendar Year 2025.

This achievement ends a backlog of approximately 4,000 cases that had accumulated for over 25 years.

NAPOLCOM chief Atty. Ralph Calinisan stated that closing this backlog is a historic day and proof that decisive leadership, integrity, and hard work can dismantle entrenched institutional problems.

The final cases unanimously resulted in the dismissal of the policemen involved and included serious offenses such as an 18-year-old sexual assault case, falsification of documents, homicide, grave threats, violence against a partner, illegal detention, and fatal shooting incidents.

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla congratulated NAPOLCOM, noting that closing a backlog spanning more than twenty-five years reflects strong leadership and commitment to justice and accountability.
